Qualification Requirements
The minimum requirement is Class 6 pass for Backward Tribes and Class 8 pass for Indigenous Naga Tribes of Nagaland from NBSE or any equivalent qualification from a recognized school board in India
Physical
Standards Test (PST)
Male
- Height: Minimum 5.3 Feet / 162 cm
- Chest: At least 78 cm (normal), 83 cm (after expansion)
- Weight: Should match height as per medical guidelines
Female
- Height: At least 5.0 Feet / 152 cm
- Chest: Minimum 74 cm (normal), 79 cm
(expanded)
- Weight: Must be in proportion to height according to medical norms
Health Eligibility
- Candidates will be medically checked by doctors on different criteria such as height, weight, chest, eyesight, color blindness, varicose veins, flat feet, knocked knees, squint eyes, physical deformities, etc., to confirm their fitness for police duties.
- They must also take medical tests including an opioid test (for general drug screening) and an alcohol abuse test. Those who test positive will be disqualified and won’t be eligible for the job.
- Female candidates will undergo a pregnancy test. If found pregnant, they will be allowed to join training in the next batch only. Their salary will start from the date training begins, not from the date of selection.
Physical Fitness Test
- Only candidates who satisfy the Physical and Medical Standards will be permitted to take part in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will include activities such as Running, Pull-Ups, Long Jump, and High Jump.
Age Criteria
- Minimum Age: Should be at least 18 years old
- Maximum Age: Should not exceed 38 years
- A one-time age relaxation is allowed as per P&AR OM No. AR/ESTT-10/4/2024/297 dated 26/02/2024.
- Age relaxation for current government employees will be provided as per official government rules.

- A test fee of ₹300 (Three Hundred Rupees only) will be collected and must be paid online. This fee is non-refundable.

Process of Selection
Physical
and Medical Requirement Test:
- Candidates need to show a copy of their Admit Card (created through Nagaland Police Registration Portal), Naga Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate of Nagaland, proof of birth date, and identity (all uploaded on the portal).
Field
(Physical Fitness Test):
- Outdoor tests will be held before the written exam. Only candidates who pass all parts of the Physical/Medical Standards will be allowed to take the next tests.
- Candidates must pass the outdoor tests (Physical Efficiency Test) below to be eligible for the written exam.
Written
Examination:
- Only candidates who pass the Physical/Medical Standards and Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) will be invited for the written exam on the announced dates and locations.
- The exam will be an MCQ with 80 questions worth 40 marks.
- Candidates will have 2 hours to complete the paper.
- The test will be in English only.
- Questions may cover General Awareness, General Knowledge, Science, Indian History, Indian Politics, Social Studies, Basic Math, Sports, Naga Culture and Heritage, Nagaland State and Naga Tribes, and General Mental Ability.
Personal
Interview:
- The merit list will be prepared based on the total marks scored by candidates in the Outdoor tests (Physical Efficiency Tests) and Written exam in the ratio of 1:3. Three candidates will be called for every one available post for the Interview.
- After passing the Physical/Medical Standards Tests and Physical Efficiency Tests, the merit list will be made based on the total marks scored by candidates in the Physical Efficiency Tests, Written exam, NCC Certification, and Interview.
- The result announcement will be considered as the offer letter.
- Candidates who do not wish to accept can send their refusal in writing within 30 days from the result date.
- After that, their appointment letter will be given.

- Applications must be submitted online only, and candidates are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide.
