Eligibility Requirements

Educational Requirements: Applicants must hold a Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade wherever a grading system is used) in the relevant subject from a recognized Indian University or an equivalent qualification from a recognized foreign University. 

In addition to this, candidates should have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR or an equivalent exam like SLET/SET approved by UGC in the relevant subject. However, those who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree following the UGC's M.Phil./Ph.D. Regulations (2009 or 2016 and amendments) are exempt from NET/SLET/SET. 

Mandatory Ph.D. Criteria: 

• The Ph.D. must be completed in regular mode 

• The thesis should have been reviewed by two external examiners 

• An open viva voce must have been conducted 

• At least two research papers from the Ph.D. work must be published, with one in a peer-reviewed journal 

• The candidate must have presented at least two papers at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar sponsored seminars/conferences 

Experience: Teaching or post-doctoral experience is valued, with 2 marks given for each year of experience.

Pay Scale / Remuneration

• Pay Band: Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with an Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of Rs. 6,000/- (as per old pay scale) 

• Category & Service: Group-A

Age Criteria (as on 19-01-2026)

Minimum Age: Must be at least 21 years old 

Maximum Age: Must not exceed 38 years 

Age relaxation: 

• SC/ST candidates: 5 years 

• OBC candidates: 3 years 

• Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years 

Applicants who belong to SC/ST/OBC and also have disabilities can receive combined age relaxation from both categories. 

No age relaxation will be provided to SC/ST/OBC(M)/OBC(MP)/OBC(ors.)/DAP candidates if there are no reserved posts for those categories.

Mode of Selection

• The academic score outlined in Appendix-1 Table-3 (as per Government of Manipur Order No. 10/187/2018-HE dated 3rd July, 2021 / Appendix II Table-3B of UGC Regulations 2018) for colleges will be used only for shortlisting candidates for the interview. The final selection will be solely based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.

• The selection process will follow the guidelines mentioned in Appendix-1 Table-3 (as per the same Government Order and UGC Regulations) provided as Annexure-A.

• Candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in Government Colleges will be shortlisted for the interview as per the State Government’s Order No. 10/187/2018-HE dated 3rd July, 2021.

General Guidelines / Directions

• A Disability Certificate must be issued by a Medical Board properly formed by the Central or State Government.

•  

• Note: The Commission will not consider any queries or requests for changes in the details filled by candidates. It is the responsibility of the applicants to enter accurate information carefully, as timely conduct of the exam is highly important.

 

For Applicants: 

• Application fee is Rs. 600/- for General & OBC, and Rs. 400/- for SC & ST. Payment must be made using net banking, VISA/MASTER card, or Debit Card via the www.empsconline.gov.in portal. DAP (Differently Abled Persons) candidates are exempted from fee payment.

 

Important Points: 

1. Fee payment is only accepted through online mode as specified. Any other method is invalid and will not be accepted. Applications without valid fee payment will be rejected outright. 

2. Once paid, the fee will not be refunded or adjusted for any other exam under any condition. 

3. If payment details are not received from the bank, such applications will be considered invalid initially. A list of such candidates will be published on the Commission’s website after the application deadline. If valid proof is submitted, genuine cases will be reviewed, and applications may be restored if all other criteria are met.

All research work must be published in Peer-Reviewed or UGC-Listed Journals (mentioned under Sl. No. 6 of Annexure-A, i.e., Appendix-1 Table-3). Awards must be from recognized bodies listed under Sl. No. 8 of the same annexure. Accepted awards include those at the International/National level (granted by international organizations, the Government of India, or recognized national-level bodies) and State level (given by State Governments). Awards from local bodies, societies, associations, universities, colleges, or institutions will not be considered.

Applicants must submit both online and offline (soft/hard) copies to the Secretary, MPSC, along with the completed Annexure-A (Appendix-1 Table-3) and the printout of the system-generated application form. If any of the required documents are not submitted by the deadline, the Commission will not be held responsible.

The Commission’s decision regarding a candidate’s eligibility will be final. If, at any point during or after the recruitment process, a candidate is found not meeting the eligibility criteria, their application will be cancelled.

The application must be submitted online at www.empsconline.gov.in from 15th December 2025 until 11:59 PM on 19th January 2026. After this deadline, the application link will be deactivated. Applications sent through any other method will not be accepted.
