Eligibility Requirements
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have a graduate degree in any subject from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government, including Integrated Dual Degree (IDD). Candidates with professional qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, or Cost Accountant are also eligible.
Work Experience:
Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience as an officer as on 31-12-2025 in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.
Salary Condition:
Candidates working in Scheduled Commercial Banks other than Public Sector Banks or Regional Rural Banks must be receiving a minimum annual gross salary of Rs. 9.50 lakh for each year. They must submit proof of salary, such as Form-16, Annual Income Statement (AIS), salary slips for the last 24 months, or a certificate from their employer.
Local Language Requirement:
Applicants must be able to read, write, and understand at least one of the specified local languages of the Circle they are applying for.
Not Eligible to Apply:
Candidates working in subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks, SBI employees in clerical or supervisory roles, contract-based employees, and those who have resigned from an officer post in SBI or its Associate Banks are not eligible.
CIBIL Status:
Candidates who have defaulted on loan repayments or credit card dues with banks or NBFCs and have not cleared their outstanding amounts are not eligible for appointment.
Character and Background:
Applicants with negative reports related to character, background, or involvement in moral misconduct are not eligible to apply for this post.
Pay Scale / Monthly Salary
The initial basic salary is Rs. 48,480 per month under the pay scale of 48,480–2000/7–62,480–2340/2–67,160–2680/7–85,920, which is applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I, along with 2 advance increments.
In addition to the basic pay, the selected officer will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) or lease rent, City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund (PF), New Pension Scheme (NPS), Leave Fare Concession (LFC), medical benefits, and other allowances and facilities as per the rules in effect from time to time.

Minimum Age: 21 years (candidates should be born on or before 31-12-2004)
Maximum Age: 30 years (candidates should be born on or after 01-01-1996)

SC/ST Candidates: 5 years

The application fee, once paid, will not be returned under any circumstances and cannot be carried forward for any other exam or recruitment process. Process of Selection
Phase 1 – Online Examination:
The online test will include an Objective Test for 120 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Objective Test will last 2 hours and have 4 sections:
English Language – 30 marks, 30 minutes
Banking Knowledge – 40 marks, 40 minutes
General Awareness / Economy – 30 marks, 30 minutes
Computer Aptitude – 20 marks, 20 minutes
The Descriptive Test will be 30 minutes long and will assess English writing skills (Letter Writing & Essay) for 50 marks.
Phase 2 – Screening:
The Screening Committee will check if candidates meet the required experience and whether their job profile matches the Scale-I Generalist Officer profile of SBI. Candidates up to approximately 3 times the Circle-wise and Category-wise vacancies, based on merit, will be called for the interview.
Phase 3 – Interview:
The interview carries 50 marks. Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks in the interview to be considered for final selection.
Phase 4 – Local Language Proficiency Test:
Candidates provisionally selected will undergo a test to check knowledge of the specified local language. Candidates who can show 10th or 12th standard mark sheets/certificates proving they studied the specified local language are exempt from this test.
Final Selection:
The final merit list will be prepared by combining marks from the Online Test and Interview with a 75:25 weightage. Online Test marks (out of 170) will be converted to 75, and Interview marks (out of 50) will be converted to 25.
Note:
There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the Objective Test. Section-wise marks will not be separately maintained for the Online Examination.
Important Information / Guidelines
A candidate can apply for the vacancy in only one Circle. Applying for a vacancy in one Circle makes the candidate ineligible to apply for any other Circle.
The candidate’s application will be considered only for the Circle they have chosen. Merit lists will be prepared Circle-wise and category-wise.
Selected candidates will be posted in the Circle for which they were selected.
Selected candidates will not be eligible for Inter-Circle transfer, Corporate Centre posting, or Foreign posting until they are promoted to SMGS-IV Grade or complete 12 years of service, whichever comes later.
On joining, candidates will be appointed as Circle Based Officers (CBOs) and will be on probation for 6 months.
CBOs will undergo continuous assessment during the probation period to determine their suitability for confirmation.
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) is horizontal and follows Government of India guidelines. Only persons with benchmark disabilities (≥40%) are eligible for reservation.
OBC candidates must submit a valid OBC certificate with Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) clause issued between 01-04-2025 and the date of interview.
EWS candidates must provide an Income & Asset Certificate based on gross annual income for FY 2024-25, valid for 2025-26, at the time of the interview.
Candidates working in Government, Quasi-Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Nationalized Banks, or RRBs must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.
The Bank will provide Pre-Examination Training (PET) online for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates according to Government of India guidelines.
Outstation candidates called for the interview will be reimbursed Railway AC-III fare (shortest route) or actual travel expenses, whichever is lower, from their residence or posting to the interview venue.
The Bank reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage.
Any legal dispute regarding this recruitment can be filed only in Mumbai, and Mumbai courts/tribunals will have exclusive jurisdiction.

Candidates can apply online only from 29-01-2026 to 18-02-2026. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.
Candidates must have a valid email ID and mobile number, which should remain active until the final results are announced.
Fill the application form carefully and submit it after completing all details.
After confirming all information is correct, candidates should pay the application fee through the payment gateway linked to the form.
Payment can be made via debit card, credit card, or internet banking, following the instructions on the screen.
On successful payment, an e-receipt and completed application form will be generated, which candidates should print for their records.
Before applying, candidates need scanned copies of: photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration, and relevant documents (ID proof, date of birth proof, job profile, resume, educational certificates, experience certificates, Form-16, salary slips) as per specifications.
Candidates should download their call letter for the Online Exam & Interview using their registration number and password/date of birth from the Bank’s website. No hard copy will be sent by post.
Candidates appearing for the exam/interview must carry one original photo ID (Passport, Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License, Voter ID, or Bank Passbook with photograph) along with a self-attested photocopy.
Only one application per candidate is allowed. If multiple applications are submitted, only the last valid application will be considered.
