 Required Qualifications

Required Educational Qualification: 

  • Candidates must have passed Matriculation or an equivalent exam from a recognized board. 
  • Only the Matriculation certificate will be considered valid to verify the candidate’s age. 
  • Educational certificates from boards other than Central/State Boards must be supported by a government-issued notification confirming their equivalence for Central Government jobs. 

 

Sports Qualification: 

  • Applicants must have participated in or won medals at international or national sports competitions between 15/01/2024 and 15/01/2026. 

 

For Individual Events: 

  • International Level: Candidates who participated in or secured medals in international tournaments/championships as part of the Indian team. The event must be recognized by the respective International Sports Federation and affiliated with IOC/IOA/MoYAS. 
  • National Level: Players who won medals in National Games, Senior Nationals, National Open, or Youth/Junior National Championships organized or recognized by National Sports Federations under IOA/MoYAS. 

 

For Team Events: 

  • International Level: Players who took part in or won medals in international team events approved by recognized federations.
  • National Level: Players who won medals while representing State/UT/Sports Board/Federation in national-level team events. 
  • The player must be a main team member (not a substitute). 
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 12 marks for all categories (UR/SC/ST/OBC). 

 

Preferred Criteria: 

  • First Preference: Candidates who represented India and won medals (in the order of Gold, Silver, Bronze, or participation) in international competitions in any category (Senior/Junior/Youth). 
  • Second Preference: Candidates who won medals or placed in the top 3 at National Games or similar national-level championships.

Salary/Stipend

  • Basic Salary: Pay Level-3, ranging from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. 
  • Other Perks: All other allowances will be provided as per the rules applicable to Central Government staff. 
  • Pension: Selected candidates will fall under the New Pension Scheme effective from 01.01.2004, along with any other applicable schemes issued by the Government. 
  • Extra Benefits: Eligible for all benefits and allowances granted to Central Government employees as per existing rules.

Age Criteria (as on 18th August, 2025

  • Minimum Age: 18 years 
  • Maximum Age: 23 years 
  • SC/ST candidates get 5 years age relaxation 
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation 
  • Departmental candidates with at least 3 years of continuous service get 5 years relaxation, with an extra 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC within that category 
  • Only the Date of Birth mentioned in the Matriculation Certificate will be considered to determine age 
  • The OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued within one year from the closing date of the online application

Recruitment Procedure

  • Step 1 – Application Review: Submitted online forms and attached certificates will be examined. Applicants who score at least 12 marks will receive their admit cards online.
  • Step 2 – Document Verification: All original documents related to age, education, category, sports achievements, and any claims for age/height relaxation will be checked. Biometric data will also be recorded.
  • Step 3 – Physical Standards Test (PST): Candidates will be measured for height, chest (for males), and weight based on required standards.
  • Step 4 – Merit List Creation: A merit list will be prepared according to marks awarded for sports achievements, based on the approved scoring system.
  • Step 5 – Detailed Medical Exam (DME): Candidates shortlisted through the merit list will undergo a full medical check-up according to MHA’s medical guidelines.
  • Step 6 – Review Medical Exam (RME): Candidates declared unfit in DME can appeal within 24 hours by paying Rs. 25/- via Indian Postal Order and submitting a fresh Medical Fitness Certificate.
  • Tie-Breaking Rules: Preference will be given based on higher scores, international over national achievements, National Games over Senior Nationals, younger age, and alphabetical order of names (English).
  • Final Selection: Depends on merit score, PST results, and being found medically fit.

Basic Guidelines / Instructions

  • The posts have a nationwide posting liability, and selected candidates may be deployed anywhere in India or overseas. 
  • Upon joining, candidates will be governed under the BSF Act, 1968 and BSF Rules, 1969. 
  • All selected applicants must undergo Basic Training and other mandatory courses. 
  • These positions are not available for differently-abled individuals or ex-servicemen. 
  • The number of vacancies is provisional and may be increased or decreased without prior notice. 
  • BSF reserves the authority to modify the recruitment process sequence or to cancel/postpone the recruitment at any point. 
  • This recruitment is exclusively for outstanding sportspersons who meet the defined criteria through medals or participation. 
  • No travel or daily allowance will be given to candidates appearing for the selection process. 
  • Candidates must be prepared to stay more than one day at their own expense. 
  • BSF recruitment is entirely transparent and strictly merit-based. No payments are needed beyond the application fee. 
  • Submitting false documents will result in cancellation and legal action. 
  • Any form of canvassing will lead to immediate rejection. 
  • Merely qualifying does not guarantee final selection.
  • Applicants with any criminal history (involvement, arrest, or conviction) are not eligible. 
  • Sports performance of selected candidates will be reviewed annually. If performance drops, options include moving to the GD cadre or removal from service. 
  • If a candidate resigns within 10 years (except for joining a Central/State Govt job), resignation will be allowed only after repaying the full training cost or three months' salary (whichever is greater). 
  • Any legal disputes will be handled within the jurisdiction of Delhi courts only.

8. Submit the form after verifying all information 

9. Download and print the submitted form for future use
