Requirements for Science Students
To be
eligible, you must have completed one of the following:
- 12th Class
(Intermediate):You must have passed with Maths, Physics, and English. You need a total of at
least 50% marks overall
and 50% marks
specifically in English.
- 3-Year
Engineering Diploma: You must have finished a diploma in a field like
Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Computers with at least 50% total marks. You
also need 50% in English
(if you didn't have English in your diploma, your 10th or 12th-grade English
marks will be used).
- 2-Year
Vocational Course: You must have passed a vocational course that included
Physics and Maths. You need 50% total marks and 50% in English (if English wasn't in your course,
your 10th or 12th-grade English marks will be checked).
Requirements for Other (Non-Science) Subjects
To apply for
these roles, you must have finished one of the following
- 12th Class
(Any Stream): You passed 10+2 or an equal exam in any subject (Arts, Commerce,
etc.). You need at least 50%
total marks and 50%
marks in English.
- 2-Year
Vocational Course: You passed a vocational course from an approved board.

and 50% in English.
- (Note: If
your vocational course did not have English, the Air Force will look at your

Important Rules
to Know:
- Approved
Schools Only: Your school or education board must be officially
recognized by the government at the time you apply.
- No Rounding
Up Marks: The Air Force only looks at the exact whole number on your
report card. For example, if you have 49.99%, it counts as 49%. You cannot round it up to 50%.
- Take Both
Exams:If you qualify for the Science exam, you are allowed to take the
Non-Science exam too. You can choose to do both tests at the same time.

Re-check Fee:If you need to appeal a medical decision, it costs ₹40. This must be paid
through a specific government bank order (MRO/e-MRO).
- No Refunds:Once
you pay the fee, you cannot
get your money back for any reason. The money cannot be used for a
different job application later.

Payments:If you accidentally pay more than once for the same application,

Stage 1: Online
Exam
The test uses multiple-choice questions. It is in both English and Hindi (but the
English section is only in English).
Exam Timing
and Subjects:
- Science
Group: You have 60
minutes to answer questions on Physics, Maths, and English (based on the
12th-grade CBSE level).
- Non-Science
Group: You have 45
minutes for English and a section called RAGA (Reasoning & General Awareness).
- Both Groups:
If you take both, you have 85 minutes to finish Physics, Maths, English, and
RAGA.
How the
Scoring Works:
- Correct Answer:
You get 1 mark.
- Skipped Question: You get 0 marks.
- Wrong Answer: You lose 0.25 marks (Negative marking).

Adjustments and Stage 2 Testing
Score
Balancing (Normalisation): Since exams happen at different times, some
might be harder than others. The Air Force will adjust the marks to make sure
the scoring is fair for everyone.
Stage 2 (at
Airmen Selection Centres): If you are picked from your state, you will go
to a center for the following:
- Checking
Papers: They will look at your original certificates to make sure they
are real.
- Fitness Tests (PFT): You will have to pass two
levels of physical exercises.
- Adaptability Test-I: A written test to see if you
are a good fit for the job.
- Adaptability Test-II: Another test based on current
Air Force rules to see how well you adjust to military life.

Step 1:
The Running Test (PFT-I)
- Men: You
must run 1.6 kilometers in less than 7 minutes.
- Women:
You must run 1.6 kilometers in less than 8 minutes.
Step 2:
Strength Exercises (PFT-II)

- 10 Sit-ups in 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Step 3:
Medical Check-up (Phase-III) The Air Force medical team will check your body
to see if you are healthy. This includes:
- Tests: They will
check your blood, urine, and heart (ECG).
- Scans: They will take an X-ray of your chest, and
for women, an ultrasound (USG).
Second Chance
and Final Results
Medical
Appeal: If the doctors say you are "unfit" (not healthy
enough), you can ask for a second opinion. This costs ₹40.
Final
Selection: Being chosen for the job depends on these four things:
- Your Rank:
Your score compared to others in your state.
- Health: Passing all medical checks.
- Open Spots: If there are enough jobs (vacancies)
available.
- Rules: Making sure you follow all the application
requirements.

& Marriage
Marriage:
You must be single to apply. You must agree not to get married during your 4 years of service.
If you do marry, you will be fired.
Pregnancy:
Female candidates must agree not to get pregnant during their 4 years. Pregnancy
will result in being fired and losing the chance for a permanent job.
Body & Health Standards
- Height:
At least 152 cm
(shorter height is allowed for people from North East/Hilly areas).
- Weight:
Must match your height and age.
- Chest:
Men must be at least 77 cm
and able to expand their chest by 5 cm. Women must also show 5 cm expansion.
- Eyes
& Ears: You need good vision (glasses are okay if they correct to
6/6) and must be able to hear a whisper from 6 meters away.
- Surgery:
No laser eye surgery (LASIK) allowed.
- Tattoos:
Permanent tattoos are only allowed on the inner arms or hands. No offensive or rude tattoos
allowed.
- Drugs:
There is a zero-tolerance
rule for drugs. If you use drugs, you will be rejected immediately.
Service Rules
- Time:
You will work for 4 years.
- Permanent
Job: After 4 years, up to 25% of the best workers may be kept for a regular,
long-term job.
- Holidays:
You get 30 days of leave
each year, plus sick leave if a doctor says you need it.
- Military
Benefits: You get free medical care and canteen (CSD) access while
serving. However, you will not be called an "Ex-Serviceman" after
you leave.
- Other
Exams: You can try to take the NDA or AFCAT exams (up to 3 times) while
working.
General Rules for Candidates
- ID
Card: You must
have an Aadhaar Card
(unless you are from J&K, Ladakh, Assam, or Meghalaya).
- Exam
Location: You can choose 5 places you like, but the Air Force will decide
where you actually go.
- Travel
Costs: The government will not pay for your travel or food during the tests.
- Electronics:
Phones and smartwatches are strictly banned at the test centers. If you bring
one, you will be banned from applying forever.
- Cheating:
Any cheating will result in a permanent ban.
- Final
Say: The Air Force can cancel the whole process at any time without
giving a reason.

You will need to type in secret codes (OTPs) sent to your phone/email to

A recent color photo. You must be holding a black slate in front of your chest with your name and the date
written in white chalk.
- Your Signature: Signed in black ink on white paper.
- Parent’s Signature: Only if you are under 18 years
old.
- Thumb Print: A picture of your left thumbprint.
- Live Photo: The website will take a real-time photo
of you using your webcam.
- Step
4 (Payment): Pay ₹649

5 (Save Copy): Print out the finished form and keep it for your records.
Important Rules
- No
Changes: You cannot fix any mistakes once you submit. Check everything
twice!
- One
Form Only: If you apply twice, both forms might be rejected.
