The test uses multiple-choice questions. It is in both English and Hindi (but the English section is only in English).

Exam Timing and Subjects:

  • Science Group: You have 60 minutes to answer questions on Physics, Maths, and English (based on the 12th-grade CBSE level).
  • Non-Science Group: You have 45 minutes for English and a section called RAGA (Reasoning & General Awareness).
  • Both Groups: If you take both, you have 85 minutes to finish Physics, Maths, English, and RAGA.

How the Scoring Works:

  • Correct Answer: You get 1 mark.
  • Skipped Question: You get 0 marks.
  • Wrong Answer: You lose 0.25 marks (Negative marking).

Score Adjustments and Stage 2 Testing

Score Balancing (Normalisation): Since exams happen at different times, some might be harder than others. The Air Force will adjust the marks to make sure the scoring is fair for everyone.

Stage 2 (at Airmen Selection Centres): If you are picked from your state, you will go to a center for the following:

  • Checking Papers: They will look at your original certificates to make sure they are real.
  • Fitness Tests (PFT): You will have to pass two levels of physical exercises.
  • Adaptability Test-I: A written test to see if you are a good fit for the job.
  • Adaptability Test-II: Another test based on current Air Force rules to see how well you adjust to military life.

Fitness and Health Exams

Step 1: The Running Test (PFT-I)

  • Men: You must run 1.6 kilometers in less than 7 minutes.
  • Women: You must run 1.6 kilometers in less than 8 minutes.

For Men:

  • 10 Push-ups in 1 minute.

  • 20 Squats in 1 minute.

For Women:

  • 10 Sit-ups in 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  • 15 Squats in 1 minute.

Step 3: Medical Check-up (Phase-III) The Air Force medical team will check your body to see if you are healthy. This includes:

  • Tests: They will check your blood, urine, and heart (ECG).
  • Scans: They will take an X-ray of your chest, and for women, an ultrasound (USG).

Second Chance and Final Results

Medical Appeal: If the doctors say you are "unfit" (not healthy enough), you can ask for a second opinion. This costs ₹40.
